The inspiration for Pyrgos Boutique Winery comes directly from the remarkable history of our area. Just a short distance away, at the archaeological site of Pyrgos-Mavroraki, excavations revealed an important industrial complex dating back approximately 4,000 years to the Early–Middle Bronze Age.
Archaeological evidence from the site points to wine production, olive-oil processing, perfume making, metallurgy and textile production.
This extraordinary connection between wine, aromatic plants, olive oil and craftsmanship provided the inspiration to create a small boutique winery and artisan production house dedicated to the land, history and traditions of Pyrgos. Our aim is not simply to produce wine, but to keep this relationship between the region, its agricultural products and its long cultural heritage alive in a contemporary way.
As a newly established boutique winery and small-scale herbal production facility, we also collaborate with experienced wineries and professionals who provide additional technical expertise and know-how.
Our current production capacity is approximately 15 tonnes of wine per year, alongside around 20 tonnes of botanical glycerites and herbal preparations.
Our philosophy, however, is not driven by volume. We focus on quality rather than quantity, authenticity rather than mass production, and on creating products that reflect the history, agricultural character and cultural heritage of the Pyrgos area.
Pyrgos Boutique Winery combines accessibility, local production and the cultural heritage of the area in one small-scale visitor experience.
Located in Pyrgos, approximately 13–15 km east of Limassol, the winery is within easy reach of the city and has convenient access to the main highway. Pyrgos is also a coastal village whose administrative area extends to the Mediterranean, placing the winery only a short distance from the Limassol coastline.
What makes the experience distinctive, however, is its connection with the history of the area. Nearby Pyrgos-Mavroraki archaeological excavations revealed an important Early–Middle Bronze Age industrial complex associated with activities including wine production, aromatic preparations and perfumes, metallurgy and other forms of organised production.
Our winery develops this local story in a contemporary way by bringing together wine, herbs, spices, Mediterranean food culture and local agricultural products. Rather than operating as a large commercial winery, it is a small organised agricultural production facility where visitors can experience elements of rural production, learn about the history of the region and discover how wine and botanical products are made.
The aim is therefore not simply to visit a winery, but to experience a small part of the agricultural, historical and Mediterranean identity of Pyrgos.
